Fisol Omega 3 Fish Oil Omega 3 Fish Oil

With so many fish oil supplements on the market today finding the best one for you can be tricky. Here’s some tips from our Natural Foods Manager on what to look for when choosing a fish oil supplement.

  • Choose one that is listed as molecularly distilled, this refers to the process that removes any harmful toxins or mercury without interfering with the benefits of the oil.
  • Look for ‘enteric-coated’ on the label. This type of softgel survives stomach digestion and releases in the small intestine, where absorption is significantly better. It also prevents the common side effects of the oil 'repeating'.
  • The two components that make up omega-3 from fish oil are EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Look for brands that give a higher amount of these in relation to the amount of fish oil used; doing this will allow you to get the full benefit of omega-3 without having to take as many pills.
